Please see the following guidelines UCD will be following in the coming weeks to keep our children, families and staff members safe:

COVID-19 RESPONSE

Updated July 2020

Drop Off/Pick Up Update
Beginning Wednesday, July 8 UCD will require any person dropping off/picking up their child to wear a mask.  Staff members will be required to wear masks at those times, as well.
Updated March 2020

Childcare Facility Rules:
Teachers will be staffed in one room only, and must remain with the same group of children at all times.

All classrooms will have 10 or fewer children.  The same 10 or fewer children will be in the same group each day, and will remain in the same room.

Children will not be allowed to change from one group to another.  Groups will not mix, and recesses will be taken separately.

Staffing:
UCD will be running on essential staff only to lower the traffic of who will be in contact with the children in our care.

The Toddler Room will have two teachers staffed if there are five or more children in the room.  The Preschool and Kindergarten Readiness Rooms will have two teachers staffed if there are more than eight children in the room.

Teachers must remain with their group in their assigned room at all times, and will not be allowed to visit other rooms.  The only exception is the teacher’s allotted 15 minute break in the morning/afternoon, which may be taken outside or in the office.

Any teacher or staff member who is sick or showing any symptoms of being sick are being directed to stay home.

Drop Off/Pick Up:
Parents are asked to drop their children off at the door.  The children will be evaluated and then escorted to their room by a staff member.

Children will be checked for COVID-19 symptoms before being allowed into their classroom.  Symptoms we will be watching for are listed in the following attachment.

Parents are asked to wait inside the door or in the office until a staff member can escort their child from their classroom.  If your pickup time will be different than normal, please call/message the center.

A child displaying any COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed to stay for the day.  In the event we have a staff member or student who is exposed to COVID-19, we will notify KDHE and follow the instructions given.

Children will be washing their hands immediately upon arrival. The Preschool and Kindergarten Readiness classrooms are also allowed to use hand sanitizer throughout the day, along with hand washing.

Additional Precautions:
In addition to the new KDHE regulations, UCD will be undertaking the following precautions:

Staff members will maintain a high level of sanitation throughout the day to cut down as many germs as possible.  We will be augmenting our cleaning procedures to clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces including door handles, baby gates, bathrooms, counter tops, toys, and hard surfaces.

Children will be more spread out at meal times, circle time, and nap time as well.

The UCD Board of Directors and center administration will be meeting regularly to reevaluate this difficult situation and will be making necessary changes as needed.

We are all in this together. Thank you for supporting us in this tough time.  We look forward to being there for your childcare needs now and in the future.
