Welcome to Our School!
The Infant Room Introduction...

Welcome to the Infant Room!  You may be new to our room or you may be a returning family...in any case, welcome!

The Infant Room is different than the older rooms here at UCD, and these differences include:

- Whenever the infant is tired they are put down for a
   nap.

- They can have a pacifier or blanket at any time.
- Their bottles are prepared when they are hungry.
- The teacher follows your lead on when to introduce
  baby food or table food.

In the Infant Room there is a lot of communication between the parents and teacher.  Since your baby cannot talk for themselves yet, we will communicate for them.  Whenever you need to do something special for your baby, just let us know.  We want to work with you to provide the best and safest care possible for your baby!

Every once and a while there will be an art project for the infants.  We do not go by the weekly activities that every other class does.  We work on their development milestones instead.  Each baby will have a monthly lesson plan specifically written just for that child.  There is no set timeline for developmental milestones, as each child may hit them at different times.

A few things that we will need you to provide for your infant are:
- 2-3 Bottles
- Formula or Breast Milk (UCD provides Parents Choice Formula)
- Pacifier (if the child takes one)
- 2-3 Outfits that are weather appropriate (this includes socks)
- Diapers
- Fitted crib sheet and receiving blanket
- Burp Cloth
- Sleep Sack or Swaddler
- A favorite toy (if they have one)
- Bag (for some of the items above to be kept in)

In the Infant Room your child will be changed every hour, per licensing.  We have daily sheets hanging on the changing table to let you know when your child was changed, what type of diaper it was, when they ate, how much they ate, and when they took their naps.  Upon request we can provide a paper copy to families at the end of the day.

We know that leaving your baby all day with someone else is a hard thing to do, so please feel free to call or text us to check up on them.  If you would like to stop by and spend a little extra time with your baby that is perfectly fine as well!  And finally, if you are a breastfeeding mother and would like to come in and nurse at any point throughout the day, just let the teacher know so they do not prepare a bottle before you arrive.
