Can You Take 5??
The week of April 11th-15th is the Week of the Young Child. The Week of the Young Child (WOYC) is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to recognize the importance of the early childhood years. As part of our celebration we will be giving parents the opportunity to “take 5 minutes” to spend with their child in the form of a short activity to do together each afternoon at pick up. Please take 5 extra minutes out of your schedule to visit your child’s classroom during the Week of the Young Child to appreciate the joy of childhood. We will end the week with Pancakes for Parents on Friday, April 15th. We will serve pancakes from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. If you are free please join us. If you have any questions about the Take 5 activities please contact the school office at (785) 232-0263 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Big Event
Saturday, April 23rd is Washburn University's "Big Event." The Big Event connects the Washburn campus with the Topeka community by recruiting hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and community volunteers to work at local job sites during one day of service. UCD will be a volunteer site on this day, and we would appreciate any parent volunteers willing to come and help out!
Track and Field Day
Tuesday, April 26th we will be heading to the Washburn football field for Track and Field Day! Please be sure to send your child in athletic clothing and socks and tennis shoes. This is VERY important, as a child in flip-flops or sandals will be unable to participate. Parents are welcome to attend!
