It starts at home and it is a great opportunity for parents to work with their children and encourage learning! This opportunity takes place every Friday and will always (unless otherwise specified) relate to the current week’s theme. Please be a part of this wonderful activity! Supervise your children as they make their choice of what they want to bring to show at school and ask them why they chose that particular item and how their choice relates to the theme. Be creative! I once had a vehicle-loving student bring his toy ambulance to school for Bugs/Insects week, and when asked why he brought that item, he told me that some people are allergic to bug bites and need to go to the hospital if they get stung. Please note, because we use Show-and-Tell as a learning tool, if a child brings an item to school that does not correlate with the theme, they will not be allowed to show it. Having said this, we set aside one week a month as FREE CHOICE, for those items that children are excited to bring, but yet do not fall into any particular category. Mar 9 - Something COLORFUL Mar 16 - Something GREEN Mar 23 - NO SCHOOL Mar 30 - Something to do with EASTER That’s a BIG Hat! In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday (March 2nd) the UCD classrooms take part in a little competition throughout the month of March. We place the head of the Cat in the Hat (minus his hat) on the bulletin board in the hallway and invite parents to help us make his hat grow! How do you do that? By reading to your child at home! We will be sending slips of red and white paper home with each family to fill out every time a book is read. After the slips have been filled out, bring them back to school for us to hang on the wall! Temporary Changes;
There will be a few changes taking place over the next few months in the Kindergarten Readiness room. With Ms. Ronda leaving, I will be temporarily stepping in to fill her shoes. For those parents who are not aware, I have five years previous experience teaching in the Kindergarten Readiness room. Ms. Dani will also be replacing Ms. Juanita in the mornings in order for Juanita to build up the necessary experience in the Preschool room for obtaining her CDA. Ms. Juanita will return to Kindergarten Readiness in the afternoons. If you have any questions regarding these changes please do not hesitate to ask! I work Monday through Thursday, 7:30-5:30. Thank you, Ms. Rachel
